Poquoson police seek 2 more suspects in alleged attack on deputy, captain at Owens Marina

Poquoson police are seeking two men in connection with the Fourth of July attack of an off-duty sheriff's deputy and another man at a local marina.

Justin Stevens, 26, and Donald Stevens, 22, both of the 100 block of Hodges Cove Road in York County, have each been charged with assault on a law enforcement officer and committing an act of violence by a mob. Additionally, Justin Stevens was charged with malicious wounding.

The charges stem from an incident at Owens Marina. Three other York County men – Brent Byrum, 20, Brandon Byrum, 22, and Joshua White, 20 – were already charged in the case.

According to a police report, Poquoson police responded to a 911 call from the marina reporting an assault. Witnesses told responding officers that a boat carrying an off-duty York-Poquoson deputy sheriff and the boat's captain had approached the suspects' boat, called the "High Pressure," at a gas pump on the docks. When the two men asked the suspects how long they would be there, a verbal altercation ensued, the report said. When the deputy and captain left their boat at a slip farther down the dock to go to dinner, they allegedly were assaulted by the occupants of the other boat, witnesses told police.
