Police investigating vehicle tampering report on Route 17

The York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office is investigating a recent incident involving vehicle tampering on Route 17.

The incident was reported at 10:04 a.m. Jan. 1 in the 1800 block of Route 17..

"An unknown suspect was observed tampering with several vehicles. The suspect drove away in a maroon sedan," according to a sheriff's office press release.

Police described the suspect as a black male in a black-hooded coat with broad white stripes on the sleeves and light-colored slacks.
