American Red Cross to hold blood drives throughout February

The American Red Cross York-Poquoson Chapter has announced its blood drive schedule for the month of February.

Blood drives are scheduled at the following times and locations:

9 a.m-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 at New Bethel Baptist Church, 3911 Big Bethel Road, Grafton
2-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14 at Bethel Baptist Church, 1004 Yorktown Road, Tabb
2-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 at Emmaus Baptist Church, 814 Yorktown Road, Poquoson
9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at Grafton Christian Church of Disciples, 109 Brick Church Road, Grafton
2-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 at Saint Luke's United Methodist Church, 300 Ella Taylor Road, Grafton
9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 at Zion United Methodist Church, 2109 Seaford Road, Seaford
2-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, 1209 Hampton Highway, Tabb

Donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 with parental consent and must weigh at least 110 pounds, according to an American Red Cross press release.

The York-Poquoson Chapter of the American Red Cross was founded as the York County Chapter in 1915 during the initial years of World War I. Today it offers disaster services, blood services, health and safety services, and armed forces emergency services.
